Good afternoon, today I want to share my impressions about visiting the excursion “Jeep Safari” in Dubai – in which I was on holiday in April.
When planning the trip, I mistook for myself that that interesting excursion. On the one hand, because it is so unusual and tempting to drive jeeps at high speed on the dunes and dunes, but on the other hand – scary).
But already in Emirates, having communicated with people, I understood that everything is not so terrible, as it seems) Dunes are small, and drivers take care of their expensive jeeps, so they do not “dash”.
It was also interesting to get acquainted with the life of Bedouins – people who originally lived in Dubai before oil was found in these parts.
The excursion takes half a day: about 14.00 hours went jeep, my hotel was the first – so took the front seat) Quickly collected 6 more people. The driver tried to entertain us in broken English, told us about Dubai, about the life of Bedouins, about interesting places that we passed – including Global Village and a factory for breeding chickens, joked, tried to support the conversation, actively asked about the traditions and culture of our country. But the most unusual thing I learnt was that these are not real Bedouins! We are being taken rather to a Pakistani village!
Real Bedouins are now millionaires – they either don’t work at all, or occupy high positions, and not in the sphere of tourism entertain the public.
And mostly these a la “Bedouins” are Indians, Pakistanis, who come and open their own business, buy jeeps and have a very good income per day.
The driver told us a lot of facts about his native state in India, showed us photos, but about Dubai he lied)So, for example, he told us that Global Village works all year round, and it is not so – he was at the closing for the summer season. There were other inaccuracies, but still the man tried, the scenery around is beautiful.
In 45 minutes – the first stop was in a souvenir shop, there you could also ride quad bikes on request for an extra fee.
Well next was the main attraction itself!
We went for a ride, before that the jeep had flat tyres. I would compare this feeling like riding the slides in a water park. It’s fun, a bit skiddy, but not scary at all.
Afterwards there was a photo stop, where everyone ran to get acquainted with the desert and take pictures for memory:
It was marvellous: to run along the dunes, to sit on the sand, to admire the sunset!
The next stop was the Bedouin camp itself, where we were welcomed with traditional coffee with cardamom, treated with fenki – a sacred delicacy for Muslims, and told a little about the tradition.
Coffee is a bourda, which is impossible to drink, and the camp of Bedouins and treats all can be compared with a 3 star hotel!
The excursion cost $40, and it is not only transfer, riding in the desert for about an hour, also a weak entertainment show and dinner, also a small henna tattoo and a camel ride for about 7 minutes .
You could also watch falcons which are the favourite birds in this state and are used for hunting. Many sheikhs invest millions and there are special hospitals for falcons.
Dinner is a buffet, so to say, “Bedouin food”: baked potatoes, vegetable salads, pasta (mmm Bedouins eat pasta)))), kebabs on a skewer, very much from peas – falafel, baked, some fish.
The whole excursion costs as a pizza with coffee in Barasti Beach, therefore to a dinner and a small performance: belly dance, fire show nobody picked on.
But I’ll tell you honestly: not very tasty. Somewhere under-salted, even slightly undercooked. Only fish was good.
It was possible to smoke hookah – there were free (group) and paid (individually) versions, to order a cocktail, to write a name from sand, to make photos with birds of prey. Bargain, heavily discounted!!!!
What to bring: water – you’ll be thirsty in the desert during the day, a hat, money for souvenirs or extras. It’s cool in the evening, so I suggest taking a jumper.
I had only positive impressions, so I definitely recommend this tour, for the price of fries and hamburger in any cafe in the centre).
Thank you for your attention, I wish you successful many bright impressions and joy!
